This workshop explores the emotional and neurological foundations of student behavior, focusing on the most common internalizing and externalizing conditions seen in schools: -anxiety, - stress, -frustration intolerance, -oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and -obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Participants will examine how these conditions can manifest in the classroom and learn how to differentiate between skill deficits and willful defiance or disengagement. Take a deep dive into evidence-informed strategies that educators can use to support students' self-regulation, reduce conflict, and create emotionally safe and responsive classrooms. Participants will explore ways to shift from reacting to proactively teaching coping and problem-solving skills. Eligible for 6 hours CTLE credit. Can use 1-1/2 Consortium seats. If district pays, district approval must be confirmed prior to start of session.
